About Entertainment KSA Event

Driven by the 2030 Vision, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has adopted entertainment as one of the key pillars in its new developmental plan. The country seeks to improve the quality of life of its people and teeming young population by providing high-standard entertainment and leisure opportunities for them. The vision also seeks to contribute in improving and enriching the lifestyle and social cohesion among the community.

The kingdom is currently reforming its policies and regulations to promote the rise of the entertainment sector by lifting the ban on cinemas, concerts, festivals, and enabling other forms of entertainment and tourism.

To achieve this, the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) has been established to organize, develop, and lead the entertainment sector to provide exciting entertainment options, and tailored experiences to the needs of people from all walks of life around Saudi Arabia.  GEA has a mandate to provide full entertainment offering aligned to global standards, which are available across the kingdom and accessible to all segments of society inclusive of citizens and expats, and accessible by different income levels.

This focus is in line with the clear economic driver to diversify the economy, contribute to the development of the GDP, support small-medium sized enterprises, and increase foreign direct investments in order to create jobs in the entertainment industry.

The government estimates that movie theatres will contribute more than 90 billion riyals ($24 billion) to the economy, with about 300 cinemas and 2,000 screens to be built in the country creating more than 30,000 jobs by 2030.
